USA international Aaron Jones, who showcased his hard-hitting skills at the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, was selected by the St Lucia Kings at the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 draft on Monday. Jones was eligible to be picked as a local player due to his Barbados passport.
Most of the six teams had already secured the majority of their squad through signings and retentions before the draft day, leaving only a few spots to be filled. The Kings also picked Khari Campbell, Johann Jeremiah, Mikkel Govia, and Akeem Auguste in the draft.
Meanwhile, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots chose Kyle Mayers as their first pick and followed up by selecting Mikyle Louis, Ryan John, and Veerasammy Permaul, reports Cricket Live Score.
Defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors re-signed Matthew Nandu and added the all-round duo of Raymon Reifer and Ronaldo Alimohamed to finalize their squad.
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, the newest CPL team, picked five players at the draft: Roshon Primus, Justin Greaves, Jahmar Hamilton, Teddy Bishop, and Kofi James. Trinbago Knight Riders, on the other hand, added only two players, Nathan Edward and Shaquere Parris, in their emerging player spots.
Barbados Royals had three spots to fill, completing their squad with the selections of Kadeem Alleyne, Isai Thorne, and Nathan Sealy.
The 2024 edition of the CPL is set to begin on August 29, with Antigua & Barbuda Falcons facing off against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
