In a thrilling encounter, the USA clinched a historic series victory against Bangladesh with a thrilling six-run win in the second T20I. Skipper Monank Patel’s aggressive 38-ball 42, complemented by valuable contributions from Steven Taylor and Aaron Jones, propelled the hosts to a competitive total of 144/6 at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston, reports Cricket Live Score.
Bangladesh, choosing to bowl first, initially contained the USA batsmen, restricting them to 42/0 in the powerplay despite Taylor’s early onslaught. However, Rishad Hossain’s double breakthrough in the seventh over, dismissing Taylor and Andries Gous, applied pressure on the home side. Yet, Jones and Patel steadied the ship with a crucial 48-run partnership for the third wicket, guiding the USA past the 100-run mark by the 15th over.
Although Mustafizur and Shoriful struck in the death overs, Patel’s resilient innings and vital contributions from the lower order propelled the USA to a total exceeding 140.
In response, Bangladesh faced an early setback when Soumya Sarkar departed for a golden duck to Saurabh Netravalkar. Despite Tanzid Hasan’s promising start, his dismissal in the fifth over further dented Bangladesh’s chase, leaving them at 43/2 in the powerplay. However, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy’s resilient 48-run partnership offered hope. Yet, run-outs and disciplined bowling from Anderson restricted Bangladesh to 92/4 after 13 overs, ultimately leading to their defeat.
