BCCI considers hosting the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai

by info@cricketlivescore.co.uk

The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is expected to take place in Dubai, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has narrowed the dates to December 15 to 19. This will be followed by the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction, which is scheduled for December 9. While the location of the WPL auction has not been determined, it is expected to be in India.

Although formal notification has yet to be sent to the franchises, word is that the IPL auction will be held in Dubai, with the most likely dates being December 18 or 19, even though those are weekdays. The BCCI considered holding last year’s auction in Istanbul but ultimately chose Kochi. Given last year’s precedent, the Dubai plan may be preliminary, but all IPL franchises have been notified of the Gulf city’s interest in hosting the auction.

The trading window is currently open, but no reports of player exchanges among IPL franchises have been reported thus far. Because the three-year window is coming to an end, it is still being determined whether significant trades will take place. Nonetheless, some high-paid players who contributed little in the previous IPL season could be released.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has not notified the owners of the location and dates for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction. The league could be held in February of this year. The Indian women’s team has international commitments until mid-January, as previously reported by Live Cricket Score.
