Cricket Australia has asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to postpone the two-match Test series currently scheduled for the 2027 season.
According to the Future Tour schedule, Bangladesh was scheduled to visit Australia in March 2027, but the hosts plan to repeat the series in August-September 2026. Cricbuzz understands the request has been made as Australia wants to host two Tests. The 150th anniversary match with England, in Melbourne during the 2026/27 summer.
Moreover, CA will extend the three-Test match series against New Zealand played before the series against Bangladesh.
“They (CA) have asked us to change the date (Test series tour 2027), but it is still under discussion. They plan to celebrate their 150th anniversary, which is a national commitment, and that is why they want to use the Test series against us and work on it,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Live Cricket Score on Tuesday.
“CA requested us to reschedule the date (Test series tour 2027), but it is under consideration. They shall celebrate their 150th anniversary, which is a national obligation, and therefore they wish to use Test series on us and manipulate with it,” BCB CEO told Live Cricket Score.
Since gaining Test status, Bangladesh have played only one Test series in Australia, which included a tour in 2003 that included both matches. Bangladesh was scheduled to play two Tests and three ODIs against Australia in 2018, but the tour was cancelled due to the broadcaster’s indifference towards the series.
