Joe Root plans to set himself as a best captain this year

by info@cricketlivescore.co.uk

With England yet to tour Sri Lanka and India this year, Joe Root as a Test captain for England is eager for challenges to come after ‘frustrating summer’ with the bat. He has recently turned to 30 earlier this week.

Root will play his 100th Test this year and is also keen in attempting to regain the Ashes in Australia next winter. This England’s test captain wants to make his mark strong and make this year one of the best one in his career.

In their last three Test series, England has achieved good results after a long gap when they achieved No. 1 in the ICC rankings back in 2011. However there were no significant contributions from their captain, in recent times.

Joe Root averaged 41.61 against South Africa, West Indies and Pakistan, with a highest score of 68 not out. The last century he scored came on the tour of New Zealand in November 2019, and later he said he was motivated by the challenge of leading from the front.

The result of 3-0 for England against Sri Lanka two years ago will return them with great strength. However, the team would be missing key players such as Ben Stokes (rested), Rory Burns (on paternity leave) and Adil Rashid (managing a long-term shoulder issue).
