Trent Rockets opened their championship defence with a stunning six-run victory over Southern Brave in The Hundred Men’s competition. Sam Hain hit a superb 63 off 39 balls to lift the Rockets from 54-5 to 133-8 at Trent Bridge. After taking 3-18 with the ball, England seamer Chris Jordan struck 22 off 11 balls to put the Brave in position to win. However, he was out in the final set, and the Brave were bowled out for 127.
According to Cricket Live Score, the Rockets were in trouble early on after being put into bat, as England’s Alex Hales and Dawid Malan were both bowled by Craig Overton on the powerplay. The wickets kept falling until Hain was joined in the middle by Imad Wasim, a Pakistan all-rounder who was brought in as a late replacement for the injured Rashid Khan. During a period of consolidation, the pair began to heat up, with Hain delivering a number of eye-catching shots, including an attempted reverse scoop that turned into a reverse pull for four in a 78-point combination.
Jordan’s excellent fielding to run out Hain in the final set ended the stand, and the Brave seamer went on to bowl Wasim and Matthew Carter with his next two balls to clinch a team hat-trick. Brave made a strong start and reached 41-0 on a difficult batting surface before succumbing to 89-6 in the middle innings. Leus de Plooy and Jordan kept the Brave in the game, and even when the former was dismissed by Luke Wood, Jordan’s clean hitting secured a thrilling finish.
